Vitreous Enamel Painting

The painting process of glass is quite involved and a rather lengthy process having many dangers of failure along the way.  With the exception of painted portraiture, the process begins with the concept of the glass form and then goes to the hot shop where Kelly makes the glass piece herself.   Only after the annealed and cleanly formed glass pieces are “perfect” does the painting begin.  The painting process takes several weeks.  Most pieces are reversed painted making the process more challenging.  Many pieces on this site portray this technique.  Below is a snapshot of the process.
